ELECTRIC STORAGE & TANK HEATERS

Tank Heaters are the perfect solution for directly heating the fluid in a storage or terminal tank, where the temperature of product being stored must be maintained or heated to a final temperature before a batch process. They work by converting electricity to heat through resistive coils or heating elements that then radiate heat into the tank.  While almost any heat transfer system can be used to keep a tank heated through a jacket system, HEAT makes custom tank heaters designed to be installed directly into the tank. These heaters have low watt-densities and heat with nearly 100% efficiency.

The style of tank heater that is best suited for your application depends on your needs:

  • Open Coil Heaters are designed to be inserted into pipe wells installed in the side of the tank and allow for heater replacement without draining the tank’s contents.
  • Flanged Heaters can be installed throughout the tank to help spread out the transfer of energy or through a manway or large flange connection, but their length is limited by their heavy weight and support requirements.
  • Unitary Storage Tank Heaters group open coil heater pipe wells together, allowing for easier use of different heater voltages or long lengths of heaters (up to 20 feet) with their sturdier design.

Common applications include water and oil storage tanks, chemical tank farms, railroad terminals, hydraulic reservoirs, and pipeline terminals. Learn more below!
